Softball: Conant's Neuman improves to 14-0
Conant's softball team went 1-2 in the Marengo tournament on Saturday as senior Sara Neuman raised her record to 14-0 with a 12-6 win over Bartlett.
Makenna McCarthy (2-for-4, 3 RBI, 2 run), Dream Aaron (2-for-2, 2 RBI), Sara-Kate Pasbrig (3 RBI) and Morgan Bihun (2-for-3, 3 runs) each hit a home run for the Cougars (18-4).
Teammate Sydney Correa (2-for-4, 1 run) also had multiple hits while Delaney Szwed doubled.
Neuman struck out eight for the Mid-Suburban West leaders.
The Cougars dropped a 3-2 decision to Marengo with Jac Carlucci working the first 4 innings and Neuman the final two.
Bihun (2-for-3, 2 runs) belted another home run and double.
Carly Rossdeutcher also went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Morrison handed the Cougars an 11-5 loss but the Cougars had 11 hits, led by Lauren Grzelak who went 4-for-4 with a home run, double and 2 runs.
McCarthy also homered for the Cougars while Szwed (2-for-4) and Bihun had doubles.
Pitcher Prasbrig struck out three.
Meadows drops two: The Mustangs (13-12) fell 10-4 and 6-2 at Lake Zurich in the nonconference twin bill.
One day after setting the Mustangs' school record for home runs in a season, Mustangs freshman Sara Brenner belted her tenth in Game 1 while going 3-for-4.
Other top hitters for the Mustangs were Caroline Slowik (3-for-5, RBI), Amanda Elkins ((2-for-4, double, 1 run) and Mallory King (double).
Pitcher Lydia Schultz had 5 strikeouts.
In Game 2, Megan King (2-for-4, double), Elizabeth Elkins (2-for-3) and Jessica Ligenza (2-for-3, double) led the Meadows offense.
BG drops two: Antioch swept the visiting Bison 11-2 and 16-5 in five innings in the nonconference doubleheader.
