Baseball: Gutke's 5-for-5 effort lifts Antioch

Ben Gutke went 5-for-5 at the plate with a triple to lead Antioch's baseball team, which pounded out 20 hits in a 20-8 victory over Zion-Benton on Saturday.

Sonny Mentone, Austin Marsiglio and John Neville each added 3 hits for the Sequoits while Dylan Rathbun and Thomas Boeh had 2 hits apiece.

Winning pitcher Tyler Glassman gave up 2 walks over two innings.

Stevenson 10, Palatine 0: Stevenson scored 6 runs in the sixth inning to put the game away.

Jack Cappalli and Robert McGaha each had 2 hits. McGaha had a triple.

Mundelein 16, Whitney Young 4: Brendan Murphy had a 3-run home run for Mundelein. He went 2-for-3 on the day.

Carmel splits: Carmel bounced back from a loss in the first game of a doubleheader with Marian Catholic (7-4) to get a win in the second game (6-3).

In the first game, Austin Ehren had 2 hits, including a triple, and 2 RBI.

In the second game, winning pitcher Griffin Norton didn't give up a walk as Eddie Pietschmann had 3 hits and Joey Lake added 2 hits for the Corsairs.

Buffalo Grove 2, Vernon Hills 0: Brad Larsen had 2 hits for Vernon Hills.

Hoffman Estates 7, Libertyville 2: Libertyville was plagued by 6 errors.

Brian Murphy and Daniel Marks each had 2 hits for the Wildcats.

North Shore Country Day 1, Round Lake 0: Round Lake got a double from Spencer Daniels.
