Services set for Buffalo Grove woman killed in Wisconsin shooting

Funeral arrangements have been set for the 44-year-old Buffalo Grove woman who was shot and killed in a random drive-by shooting Sunday in Wisconsin.

Visitation for Tracy Lynn Czaczkowski is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights. On Saturday, funeral services are scheduled at 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass at noon at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights.

Zachary Hays, 20, of West Allis, Wisconsin, was charged Wednesday with one count of first-degree intentional homicide and three counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety in the death of Czaczkowski on Interstate 90/94 in Sauk County, Wisconsin.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the county's district attorney, Hays was driving erratically and acting paranoid when he fired three shots at Czaczkowski's car as she and her family were returning from a trip to the Wisconsin Dells. One of the shots hit Czaczkowski in the neck.

She later died Monday at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to assist Czaczkowski's husband, Greg, and two young children, Matthew and Sofia, at gofundme.com/czaczkowskifamily. The fund totalled more than $85,000 from more than 2,000 people as of Friday morning.

Czaczkowski, a native of downstate Belleville, was a 2001 graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and worked as a dental hygienist, according to her obituary posted by Glueckert Funeral Home.

She is also survived by her father, mother and six siblings.
