Author Jane Hamilton coming to Gurnee
Author Jane Hamilton will be appearing Tuesday, May 24, at Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee, to discuss her latest novel, "The Excellent Lombards."
The novel tells the story of Frankie Lombard, who loves her family's apple orchard, but once she begins to face threats of urbanization and disinheritance, she is forced to make tough decisions. Books will be available for purchase at the 7 p.m. event.
There may also be a demonstration of a book cart drill team routine, as depicted in the novel.
Hamilton's previous novels include "The Book of Ruth," which was an Oprah's Book Club selection in 1996 and basis for a 2004 television film, and "A Map of the World."
