Hultgren deserves kudos, not Roskam

This letter is in response to Chris Heichele letter in the April 26 paper entitled: "Why reward those who came here illegally?" While I agree with the conclusion of the letter some of the premises are incorrect.

In the letter he gives "kudos" to Congressman Roskam for protecting the American worker by his previous inaction on immigration reform and criticizes Representative Hultrgren for "drinking the Kool-Aid" for when he apparently has spoken about bringing the best and brightest into our country.

In fact in the 2016 Omnibus Bill, which was passed in December of 2015 and was supported by the majority of Democrats and Centrist Republicans and criticized by conservatives, quadrupled the H2 B visa program and did nothing to curb the H-1B visa programs allowing cheaper foreign hires to displace American workers. This bill put family bread winners and new college graduates out of work. This bill also increased the debt ceiling, increased funding for the IRS, and increased funding to allow increased numbers of poorly vetted refugees in our country. Peter Roskam voted for this bill and Randy Hultrgren voted against it.

So if anyone gets kudos for looking out for the American worker and taxpayer it is Hultrgren not Roskam.
