College softball: Harper faces top seed Rock Valley in regional tournament

Seeing Rock Valley College as the top seed in the NJCAA Division III regional tournament has become the norm.

For the second year in a row, the Golden Eagles - who only started their program before last season - earned the top spot.

Fourth-seeded Harper (3-23) is led by by first team All-Region selection Jordan Dallmann. The Lakeland (Wis.) College transfer is hitting .417. The Lake Park alum ended the regular season fifth nationally in triples.

The Hawks faces Rock Valley at noon Friday to start the double-elimination regional tournament at Joliet.

The winner of that contest advances to meet the winner No. 2 seed College of DuPage or No. 3 seed Joliet at 4 p.m. The losers from the two games play an elimination game at 2 p.m.

The regional championship game is scheduled for noon Saturday, with an if-necessary game at 2 p.m.

The Hawks swept Oakton Community College in a doubleheader in their most recent action on April 26.
