Join pet blessing service May 22 at Zion UMC

A pet blessing service will be held at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, May 22, at Zion United Methodist Church, 157 W. Jefferson Ave. in Hampshire.

Animal lovers are invited to bring their pets on leashes or in carriers for this open air service conducted by Rev. Diana K. Otterbacher.

There will be music and prayers for the pets along with prayers for a good growing season and all of creation.

The service is free and open to all. However, participants are invited to bring items to donate to Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin, and the Animal House Shelter in Huntley.

They need: clean pet toys, paper towels, Dawn dish soap, gently used towels & blankets, bleach, kitty litter, Purina Cat Chow, Pedigree canned and dry dog food, pet toys, ammonia-free glass cleaner, all sizes of collars, leashes, harnesses, stainless steel pet bowls, air fresheners/deodorizers, etc.

This event is co-sponsored by the Hampshire Animal Hospital.
