Conway makes switch from basketball to football

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Austin Conway is switching sports at Wyoming.

Football coach Craig Bohl and basketball coach Allen Edwards jointly announced Tuesday that Conway will be leaving the Cowboy basketball team for the football program.

Conway redshirted as a freshman this past season with the basketball team. He tried football out this spring with the permission of the two coaches.

He will play wide receiver and be used as a kick returner for the Cowboys.

Conway will have four years of eligibility with the football team and he will be on scholarship.

Conway described the switch as just following his heart.

He says he feels comfortable on the football field.

Conway played both football and basketball at Overland High School in Aurora, Colorado.
