3 killed, 5 injured in southern Indiana vehicle crash

LEXINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Police in southern Indiana say a driver and two children were killed and five others were injured in a head-on vehicle crash.

The Scott County Sheriff's Department says troopers responded Sunday evening to the crash on State Road 203 near Lexington. Officials say a vehicle traveling northbound left its lane as it approached a curve and crossed into a southbound pickup truck's lane.

The deceased were in the northbound vehicle. Authorities identified them as the driver, 36-year-old Alfonzo B. Qualls of Lexington, 8-year-old Mariah Qualls of Lexington and 10-year-old Kaden A. Pedigo of Austin.

Three other victims of that vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries. Details of their conditions were not provided.

The driver and passenger of the pickup truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
