Who the Bears should target in Rounds 2-3 today

The Bears have the 10th pick in Round 2 when the draft resumes today at 6 p.m., and there are plenty of interesting players still on the board.

With Georgia linebacker Leonard Floyd satisfying coach John Fox's desire for more pass-rush pressure, the Bears could look toward a defensive line position which is considered the deepest in the draft.

Many teams obviously shared the Bears' belief that because of the great depth, they could wait until the second day of the draft and get an excellent D-lineman in the second or third rounds.

Mississippi State's Chris Jones, Penn State's Austin Johnson, Alabama's A'Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed and Clemson's Kevin Dodd are the top defensive tackles remaining.

All were mentioned by some draft analysts as first-round possibilities.

The Bears will also seek offensive line help at some point in the draft.

There are several highly regarded players still on the board, including Kansas State's Cody Whitehair, who many had rated as the top guard in the draft. Indiana tackle Jason Spriggs is a player who may be able to step in at the all-important left tackle position.

The Bears are thin behind OLT starter Charles Leno, who has not solidified the No. 1 spot despite starting 13 games there last year.

It's doubtful the Bears would go back to select another edge rusher, but Eastern Kentucky's Noah Spence and Oklahoma State's Emmanuel Ogbah won't be around for long in Round 2.

Secondary is another area in need of more talent, and Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller's youngest brother, Kendall, is likely to go in the first half of the second round.

Alabama running back Derrick Henry is a powerful runner with rare speed who could fit as a short-yardage specialist.

At some point, someone will gamble on Notre Dame outside linebacker Jaylon Smith making a comeback from a devastating knee injury that will keep him out for the entire 2016 season. That could come today.

UCLA linebacker Myles Jack had a much less serious knee injury than Smith, but was not selected in the first round after being projected as a top-10 pick as recently as last week.

Alabama linebacker Reggie Ragland also was not drafted in the first round but is expected to be among the first players picked in Round 2.
