Indianapolis house explosion suspect wants trial moved

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - A fourth suspect in a house explosion that killed two people and devastated an Indianapolis neighborhood has requested that his trial be moved from the city.

Gary Thompson's lawyer filed documents this week seeking a change of venue for the trial on murder and arson charges stemming from the November 2012 explosion.

The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/1N7Wfo5 ) a judge took the request under advisement. The 45-year-old Thompson is scheduled for a hearing June 24.

Prosecutors say Thompson helped Mark Leonard in the plot to blow up co-defendant Monserrate Shirley's home for $300,000 in insurance money. Leonard's serving two life sentences without parole plus 75 years for his convictions after his trial was moved to South Bend. Step-brother Bob Leonard also was convicted after his trial was moved to Fort Wayne.
