Elgin man charged in armed robbery

An Elgin man was charged with armed robbery and was being held on $150,000 bond Thursday, authorities said.

Jawann C. Lindsey, 30, of the 400 block of Villa Street, was arrested Wednesday night following an investigation into an armed robbery April 19. He appeared in Kane County bond court Thursday morning.

A male victim reported to police he was entering his vehicle around 11:30 p.m. April 19 in the area of Walnut and Wilcox avenues when a man approached him, displayed a knife and demanded money, police said in a news release.

The victim gave the man his wallet, which included various identification and credit cards, and the man fled the scene in a vehicle. The victim was not injured.

Detectives from the major investigations division later identified Lindsey as the suspect and an arrest warrant was issued by the Kane County state's attorney's office. Lindsey was arrested in the 0-100 block of National Street. He also was charged with unlawful use of a credit card.
