Pittsburgh's Fratangelo earns USTA wild card for French Open

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - The U.S. Tennis Association says that 2011 French Open junior champion Bjorn Fratangelo of Pittsburgh has earned a wild-card entry for the main draw at Roland Garros.

The 22-year-old Fratangelo clinched a spot in the French Open, which begins May 22, by accumulating the most points based on results at USTA Pro Circuit clay-court tournaments.

In 2011, Fratangelo, who is named after Bjorn Borg, became the first American since John McEnroe in 1977 to win the French Open boys' singles title.

The USTA awards two French Open wild cards - one to an American man, the other to an American woman.
