Indiana State Museum to unveil bicentennial artifact exhibit

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indiana State Museum is set to unveil its collection of 200 artifacts that have been either made or used by famous residents in honor of the state's bicentennial.

The (Munster)Times reports (http://bit.ly/1NxxBxf) the collection being revealed Saturday will include documents from when Indiana gained statehood, original jackets of both airplane pilot Amelia Earhart pop music icon Michael Jackson, John Dillinger's FBI "Wanted" poster, a Tony award won by composer Cole Porter, and a military drone built in Indiana.

Museum Chief Curator Dale Ogden says the collection is intended to show the contributions of Indiana to the nation as well as the world. The exhibit is one of many programs put on by the state throughout this year to celebrate 200 years of Indiana statehood.
