Severe thunderstorm watch for the suburbs until 10

The National Weather Service is keeping on top of storms tonight with watches and warnings.

The latest was a severe thunderstorm warning for central Lake County that expired at 7:45 p.m. That followed a warning that expired in Cook, Kane and DuPage counties for a storm that brought strong wind and some hail. But then the sun came out in the Northwest suburbs.

The first warning followed a storm seen in Lily Lake during the afternoon rush hour.

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for all the suburbs until 10 p.m.

Cook, DuPage, Kane, McHenry, Lake and Will counties are all included in the watch. The storms could bring hail and damaging winds, and possibly a tornado, the weather service said.

You can follow any storm developments on ABC 7's radar online.
