Cruz slur attempt begets Ricky Ricardo?

A fervent Bernie-backing friend recently bled bile about Ted Cruz, calling him a dangerous, despised, despotic religious fanatic. Forget the loudmouthed, bigoted Trump, said he, Cruz is the true Prince of Darkness.

Ironic! A recent Time magazine issue has a cover picture of Satan, aka Cruz. It's a younger-looking Ted Cruz and possibly more sinister with dark, heavy eyebrows, sallow face and, to borrow Shakespeare's description of a Caesar assassin, a "lean, hungry look." There's a sort of witchlike pointy nose and thin smirking lips and a bright blue, "Devil in a Blue Dress" tie. He looks like one of the gunsels who plugged Vito the Godfather Corleone in the back, or any Dashiell Hammett-ish, Peter-Lorre-type film noir villain.

Could this be a mainstream media sample of assassination, character assassination by twisted imagery of a candidate the editors dislike?

On the other hand, the Cruz cover picture looks like another famed Cuban-American: Ricky Ricardo. You know, Lucy's husband. And who doesn't like Ricky & Lucy? They've been welcome guests in U.S. living rooms for more than half a century from when the nation liked Ike to the current abomination, er, Obamanation. Maybe Time Mag is tipping the scale in a Cruz-friendly direction. Who wouldn't want a First Lady Lucy? Who wouldn't like to see the leader of the Free World whisking into the White House announcing, "Lucie/Heidi, I'm home"?

Then, there's Fred & Ethel, the First Friends. Maybe Fred could be Secretary of the Treasury or head of the FED, Fred's FED. After all, who in TV history was more tightfisted than Fred Mertz? He'd probably have to do something about those baggy pants though. The Millennials couldn't relate.
