Funding still available to help with home heating, electric bills

Going to be disconnected?

Already disconnected?

There is still money available to help local residents pay their home heating and electric bills!

But you will have to apply soon (if they haven't applied since Oct. 1, 2015) to qualify for this program year or it will be too late. You don't need to be disconnected to be helped! You do need to call for an appointment.

Applications are taken by appointment for DeKalb County at (815) 758-3835 or for Kane County at (847) 697-4400.

There are appointments available in Kane and DeKalb counties until the end of May.

LIHEAP provides a once-yearly benefit to income eligible households. It is made available in DeKalb and Kane counties through Community Contacts Inc., a nonprofit human service organization.

Eligibility is based on the household's combined income for the prior 30 days. For example, a household of one cannot exceed $1,471; for two people - $1,991; for three people - $2,511; for four people - $3,031; and for 5 people - $3,551.
