Boys gymnastics: Nigam, Palatine tops at Hoffman Estates

Palatine's boys gymnastics team scored 150.800 to edge Schaumburg (150.775) in Friday's Scott Phillips Hawk Invitational hosted by Hoffman Estates on Friday.

Fremd (147.880) finished a close third, followed by Conant (139.25) and Hoffman Estates (137.075).

Palatine's Prakash Nigam roared to the all-around title with a score of 53.65. He also won pommel horse (9.2), still rings (9.4), parallel bars (9.2).

Fremd's Eric Barnd was second in the all-around at 49.90, just ahead of Conant's Sam Minarik (49.45), who won floor exercise (9.1).

Other winners were Matt Wang of Palatine on vault (9.40) and A.J. Hardin of Schaumburg on the horizontal bar (9.1)..
