'Princess Diaries' author Meg Cabot coming to Metropolis May 13

Meg Cabot, best-selling author of "The Princess Diaries" will visit Arlington Heights on May 13 to discuss her newest book.

Cabot will be at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre for a book signing, question and answer session, hors d'oeuvres and more, said Deb Smart, of the Tuscan Market Book Club, which is hosting the event.

This is the first "all ages" book event the club has hosted, meaning mothers and daughters are encouraged to attend and anyone wearing princess attire will be eligible for raffle prizes, Smart said.

"We're pretty excited to have someone of this stature coming," Smart said. "I think it's going to be wildly fun."

The $30 ticket also includes a new release book of your choice - Cabot writes children's young adult and adult fiction - a glass of wine or sparkling juice, desserts and finger food.

"It's a pretty neat deal, she will have all three of her new books at the event," Smart said.

Smart said there are 300 tickets for the event and about half are already sold. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Metropolis.

Buy tickets by phone or in person from Tuscan Market & Wine Shop, 141 W. Wing St., or (847) 392-9700. Doors open for the event at 6:15 p.m.
