Take a wildflower walk in Elgin

The Friends of Trout Park invite the community to join the wildflower walk at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at Trout Park, off Trout Park Boulevard and Sherwood Avenue on Elgin's northeast side, along the Fox River.

The Friends of Trout Park will lead small groups through the nature preserve, pointing out plants and discussing the natural history of the park.

Many of these spring ephemerals such as marsh marigolds, Virginia bluebells and bloodroot are visible only for a short time before disappearing by summer.

Once known as the Elgin Botanical Gardens, Trout Park boasts one of the best wildflower displays in Kane County.
