Girls soccer: Kubin, Lake Zurich roll
Becca Kubin scored twice and added an assist, as Lake Zurich's girls soccer team blanked Zion-Benton 8-0 in North Suburban Lake Division action Thursday night.
The Bears (7-2-1) did all of their scoring in the first half.
Erin Neeson also had a pair of goals. Madeline Blasko, Abby Mulderink and Kristin Brousseau also scored. Samantha Hartman and Emily Udelhoven each had 2 assists. Also contributing assists were Brousseau and Blasko. Bears goalkeeper Madison Hart made 1 save to earn the shutout.
Grayslake North 2, Richmond Burton 1: At Lakes, the Knights prevailed in penalty kicks to even their record to 1-1 in the tournament.
Lauren Davis scored in regulation for Grayslake North (8-3-2), as she finished a pass from Sydney Paez in the first half. The Rockets netted the equalizer in the second half. In PKs, 18 players took shots. Both keepers made one early save, before the Knights won in the ninth round when Tania Garcia finished her chance and R-B's chance missed high.
Antioch 8, North Chicago 0: Courtney Coleman scored her 12th and 13th goals of the season for the Sequoits, who led the North Suburban Prairie match 7-0 at halftime.
Megan Helgesen and Morgan Keefer also scored twice for Antioch (5-4-4, 2-2), which also got goals from Karley Monaco and Gabby Michaels. Lauren Slack contributed a pair of assists. Rachel Moore, Gracie Bouker, Danielle Brose, Christina Michaels and Bre Carly also had assists.
Monica Wilhelm earned her sixth shutout.
