Images: #TBT Gallery features suburban Girl Scouts

The Girl Scouts of America was founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia, to help young girls learn skills to lead a happy, successful, responsible life.

We all know the Girl Scouts for its annual cookie sales, but a fundamental part of being a Girl Scout is to offer a helping hand to those in need while working to improve the community.

Today there are 3 million Girls Scouts in 92 countries and more than 59 million alumnae.

In this gallery, we look back and girl scouting activities between 1966 and 1984 in Arlington Heights, Palatine, Mount Prospect, Des Plaines, Buffalo Grove, Addison, Bloomingdale and Wood Dale.
