No Buffalo Grove Days fireworks this year

There won't be fireworks at the 2016 Buffalo Grove Days festival, because circumstances surrounding the festival's move to Mike Rylko Community Park are making it difficult, said Alan Danenberg, who handles public information and marketing for BG Days. Although Rylko Park, at 951 McHenry Road, is bigger than the old fest grounds, the only place to shoot off fireworks is the ball fields - which means the pyrotechnics would have to be kept lower to the ground lest they fall into the woods or on nearby homes, he explained. If they shot them off at the golf course as in past years, no one at the fest could see them, he added. "We're looking at creative options (to fireworks)," Danenberg said Thursday.
