Lindenhurst ranked among safest communities

Lindenhurst was ranked among the 100 safest cities in America, according to a community-focused safety organization. To compile this report, SafeWise analysts considered the most recent FBI crime data from 2014 to rank the cities having a minimum population of 10,000. According to the ranking, Lindenhurst's "House Watch Program," which schedules police calls when residents are on vacation is a way to cut property crimes. According to the ranking, Lindenhurst with a population of 14,519 reported 0.48 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and 3.65 property crimes per 1,000 residents.
