Lunchtime worker accused of pushing student to ground in Gages Lake

A lunchtime worker at Woodland Elementary West School has been charged with battery for pushing an 8-year-old down twice, police say.

The incident happened on April 4 at the school, 17371 W. Gages Lake Road in Gages Lake, during the lunch period for second-graders, Lake County sheriff's officials said in a news release.

Peggy Bora, 45, who lives in an unincorporated area near Gurnee, is accused of pushing the student to the ground on two separate occasions and pushing the child's head into the ground, causing an injury, police said.

Bora was immediately removed from the school and put on leave, school officials said. The Department of Children and Family Services also was notified.

On Thursday, she was charged with four counts of aggravated battery. She was released after posting 10 percent of $50,000 bail and is expected in court May 11.
