Sign up for David Adler late spring art classes

The David Adler Music and Arts Center has announced open registration for Camp Adler and Chamber Camp, as well as a creative array of art and music classes and new early childhood classes that begin May 2.

• Camp Adler: Camp Adler is the camp for ages 5-11 to explore music, drama and art. Campers explore current interests and develop new ones as they build their own schedule from a variety of exciting art, music and drama classes. Two sessions. Full-day and half-day options and before/after care are available. Junior Tribe Leader applications for ages 12-15 are available online at www.adlercenter.org.

• Chamber Music Camp: Work with professional musicians in this one-week camp designed for young musicians, ages 7-15, who want to play as an ensemble. Musicians are placed in chamber groups according to age and ability. Receive individual instruction, daily performance opportunities, and present an end-of-camp concert for families and friends. One Session, Aug. 8-12.

A wide variety of art classes for children and adults are taught in studios surrounding the David Adler historic home. Classes begin May 2 and run through June 8 with no class on Memorial Day. Beginners are always welcome.

• Drawing: Youth will create works of art using a variety of drawing techniques, including perspective, composition, shading, and blending colors. Designed for continuing students and beginners alike. For Ages 5-12. Wednesdays, 5:15-6:30 p.m.

• Imitate the Great Artists: Learn about great artists of the past and create works of art that mimic the artist's painting and drawing styles. A variety of materials will be used to design new masterpieces, inspired by the greats. Discover the secret meanings and inspirations behind the world's most famous pieces of art. For Ages 5-12. Mondays, 5:15-6:30 p.m.

• Adult and Teen Independent Study: Teens and adults can receive personalized instruction on a project of their own choosing. Come to class with an image or idea and receive instruction and guidance as you complete your project. Ages 12 and up. Tuesdays, 5:15-6:30 p.m.

• Youth Painting Workshop: Children can follow along in this step-by-step workshop as they paint a funny fish. No experience needed. Ages 5 and up. 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21.

• Art and Wine Workshops: Follow along in this relaxing step-by-step workshop, receive art instruction and learn techniques to paint an acrylic painting. "Bring Your Own Bottle" to enjoy, listen to music, and complete your own personal masterpiece.
