Baseball: Davila's dandy lifts Warren
Ryan Davila threw a complete-game two-hitter, and Warren's baseball team beat Lake Zurich 4-1 in North Suburban Lake Division action on Tuesday.
Davila struck out 13 with only 1 walk. Warren (10-4, 3-2) was led offensively by Tanner Dyer (2-for-3, 2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Michael Rosenberg (2-for-2, RBI).
Lake Zurich's only hits came from Nick Sanders and Dylan Niedzwicki.
Stevenson 11, Libertyville 0: Pat Loeffler and Robbie McGaha both homered, as the Patriots won big in North Suburban Lake action.
Loeffler finished 4-for-4 while also doubling twice and driving in 3 runs, McGaha was 2-for-4 with a triple as well and 5 RBI. Henry Marchese also had a big day offensively for Stevenson (11-3-1, 5-0), going 3-for-4 with 2 doubles. Christian Dutler was 2-for-2 for the Patriots.
On the mound, Justin Stark earned the five-inning complete-game win. He struck out seven, walked one and allowed 3 hits, including a double to Chase Patterson.
Libertyville fell to 1-3 in the NSC Lake.
Mundelein Zion 1
Mundelein 6, Zion-Benton 1: Brendan Murphy struck out 11 batters for the Mustangs in the North Suburban Lake game.
Jeff Morton was 2-for-3 with double and 2 RBI for Mundelein (9-6, 1-2). Murphy helped himself by going 2-for-3 with a triple.
Grant 7, Antioch 2: James Pendley went 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI for the Bulldogs in North Suburban Prairie action. Bryan Libby improved to 4-0 for Grant (10-5, 3-1), as he went the distance on the mound, striking out five and allowing 1 earned run. Ethan Unger was 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs.
Wauconda 10, Vernon Hills 4: John Herbst was 4-for-4 with a double, as the Bulldogs improved to 10-2 and 3-0 in the North Suburban Prairie.
Trevor Sefcik was 3-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored, Brian McFarlin went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, and Jacob Bicknase finished 3-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI. Collin Shrader contributed a pair of hits.
Winning-pitcher Drake Berman pitched 5⅔ innings for the win, allowing 4 runs but only one earned.
Kyle Hull had a three-double for Vernon Hills, which turned 3 double plays.
Lakes 11, Round Lake 2: The visiting Eagles pounded out 16 hits in the North Suburban Prairie contest.
Jack Christensen (2 runs, RBI) and Tommy Jones both went 3-for-4 for Lakes (6-7, 2-2). The Eagles received 2 hits apiece from Stephen Mogged (run, RBI), Max Swiatek (double, 2 RBI) and Connor Chamernick (2 doubles, run).
Christensen (2-1) pitched a five-inning complete game, allowing 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out six.
Carmel 10, St. Viator 1: On Monday, Connor Pett threw a complete game with 9 strikeouts and just 1 walk, and he also shined at the plate for the visiting Corsairs in the East Suburban Catholic Conference game.
Pett finished 2-for-3 with a home run and 4 RBI. Liam Evans was 1-for-2 with 3 RBI for Carmel, which hosts St. Viator on Wednesday.
