No one hurt in Palatine garage fire

The Palatine Fire Department extinguished a fire that damaged a two-car garage at 251 W. Wilson St. Sunday afternoon, officials said.

According to a Tuesday news release, crews arrived on the scene at 4:29 p.m. and began attacking the fire both with hoses outside the garage and with pressurized water extinguishers inside the burning structure. Firefighters had to open the exterior rear wall and soffits of the building to ensure the fire was completely out. Firefighters continued to ventilate smoke and gases from the structure and wet down burned mulch and compost material behind the garage.

No one was injured in the fire, which caused minor to moderate damage to the detached garage. The department said the fire's cause was accidental.
