Laura Bush, daughter Jenna to celebrate new book in Naperville

Former first lady Laura Bush and her daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, will visit Naperville's North Central College next month to promote their new children's picture book, “Our Great Big Backyard,” which celebrates America's national parks.

The former first family members are scheduled to appear at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 16, in North Central's Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. Their appearance is sponsored by Anderson's Bookshop, which also played host to both women on their 2008 book tour for “Read All About It!” and to Jenna Bush in 2007 for her book “Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope.”

Tickets are $25 and include admittance to the presentation and a pre-autographed copy of the book. Tickets are available exclusively from LauraandJennaBush.brownpapertickets.com.

A portion of ticket sales will benefit Naperville Unit District 203 and Indian Prairie Unit District 204.

Organizers said the program will feature a moderated talk and a brief question-and-answer session. There will not be a signing line nor an opportunity for photographs.

Audience members will go through a security screening and personal items will be subject to X-rays and hand inspections.

The book is a tribute to our national parks and the importance of connecting with nature. It follows a young girl, Jane, whose plans of spending the summer playing video games with her friends are dashed when her parents announce that her family is going on a road trip to national parks around the country.
