ECC to host Sustainability Expo Wednesday

Elgin Community College and the City of Elgin Sustainability Commission will host a Sustainability Expo from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 20.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the Building J Events Center at the college, 1700 Spartan Drive.

The expo will feature information and valuable tips on how to lower your fossil fuel use, lower your energy bill and save water. There also will be workshops on renewable energy, energy efficiency, local foods and climate solutions that will help participants save money and be more Earth-friendly.

There will be a Kids' Zone with fun activities and the first 100 people will receive a free oak tree, courtesy of the family of Elgin Mayor David Kaptain.
