Veteran/military job fair in North Chicago this week

A veteran/military job fair is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at the Forrestal Community Center, 2007 Virginia Ave., North Chicago. It is co-sponsored by the Lovell Federal Health Care Center's Vocational Rehabilitation Unit and Naval Station Great Lakes Fleet and Family Support Center's Transition Assistance and Family Readiness programs. It is open to active duty military members, veterans, military retirees, reservists, eligible family members and Department of Defense employees. More than 80 job and resource vendors will take part in the job fair. Representatives will accept applications and speak with potential employees. Vendors include a range of government and commercial businesses hiring at all levels, in hundreds of career fields. Some employers will interview candidates on the spot. Jobseekers must have military or family member identification cards or IDs from the Department of Defense or Department of Veterans Affairs. Proof of honorable discharge (DD-214) also is accepted.
