Morel hunters go online to see where to go _ and not go

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - Mushroom hunters are getting a heads up online about where they can go to find morels in Central Illinois and where they shouldn't go.

The (Peoria) Journal Star (http://bit.ly/1NvWxQk ) reports that messages about the morels are popping up on more and more on mainstream social media venues - joining the morel-specific online message boards that have been around a while.

The Pekin Police Department is also weighing in with an online warning to morel enthusiasts on its Facebook page. The department is reminding mushroom hunters that they just can't go wherever they want in search of the delicacy and that going onto private property without permission is trespassing.

The good news for morel lovers is that expert Tom Nauman says this year is shaping up to be a good one.
