Liverpool midfielder Emre Can out for 4-6 weeks

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) - Liverpool could be without Emre Can for the rest of the season after the midfielder was ruled out for four to six weeks with ruptured ankle ligaments.

Can was injured in the closing stages of the 4-3 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League on Thursday when Liverpool reached the semifinals.

Liverpool says "a return before the end of the season has not been ruled out" but the recovery timeframe appears tight.

The 22-year-old Can has made 46 appearances this season. Liverpool's season now hinges on success in Europe with Juergen Klopp's team eighth in the Premier League.
