Elderday Center to host annual 'Caring From the Heart' gala

Elderday Center will be hosting its annual gala, "Caring From the Heart," at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Lincoln Inn in Batavia. Tickets are $75 per person, which includes an open bar, dinner, and dessert.

There will be a wide variety of silent auction items available for bid and some exciting live auction packages presented, including some great destination experience packages, a signed Steven Tyler guitar, and many other packages. Additionally, entertainment will be provided by local "American Idol" contestant Kayla Mickelsen, who made it into the top 50 during tryouts. And just added, Ron Onesti from the Arcada Theatre will be the emcee for the event.

In its 26th year, Elderday Center specializes in dementia and age related illness care. The program is unique because the specialized day program promotes cognitive stimulation and socialization which can help slow the progression of dementia, minimize depression, and increase the overall quality of life. As the only community-based not-for-profit adult day program in the Tri-Cities, Elderday Center uses evidenced based techniques to engage senior citizens affected with these diagnoses.

The Elderday Center program offers a wide variety of services and activities in which clients can participate: daily exercise, intergenerational activities, games, crafts, special entertainment, lively discussions of current events, music and pet therapy, a hot lunch and two nutritious snacks, daily nurse monitoring, professional case management, and much, much more. Staff are committed to providing the highest quality of care for each and every senior in the program. The intention is to make a direct and meaningful impact on the quality of life for both clients and their caregivers every day.

This annual gala is the major fundraising event for Elderday Center, which provides care to seniors with Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, and other age related illnesses. Tickets are still available. For tickets, visit www.elderdaycenter.org and click on the link for the gala.
