'Legally Blonde Jr.' in Lincolnshire

Actors at Daniel Wright Middle School were seeing pink Wednesday as they held a dress rehearsal for their production of "Legally Blonde Jr." in Lincolnshire.

The musical, based on a hit movie starring Reese Witherspoon, follows main character Elle Woods as she heads to Harvard Law School after getting dumped by her boyfriend, Warner.

This musical is filled with humor and features recognizable songs that deal with themes of self-empowerment and identity.

"The musical is very much based on popular music forms, said Co-Director Ryan Clarin.

"Our students were looking forward to doing a more mature and more popular contemporary musical," Clarin added.

Actors will initially present the production to younger audiences and peers, and then for the community at 7 p.m. Friday.

Clarin's co-director is Lauren DuFloth. Their musical will be staged at Daniel Wright Junior High School, 1370 N. Riverwoods Road, Lincolnshire.
