Girls water polo: Prospect comes back, edges Rolling Meadows

Prospect's girls water polo team has the inside track toward a Mid-Suburban East title after edging host Rolling Meadows 5-4 on Tuesday.

With a 5-1 league record, the Knights are now alone in first place in the division.

The Mustangs were able to shut out Prospect in the first half and took a 3-0 lead into the third quarter.

Prospect won that period 2-0, then outscored Rolling Meadows 3-1 in the final quarter.

Gracie Dix scored twice for Prospect (8-6, 5-1), and Kirsten Chamberlin, Faye Barry and Kate Colehour had 1 goal apiece.

Sara Luedloff had 2 goals for Rolling Meadows, and Emily Walters and Maggie Goodwin both had 1 score.

Prospect goalie Lauren Broz stopped 14 shots and Meadows goalie Betsy Zanocco saved 10 attempts.

"Tonight was one heck of a game," said Prospect coach Natalie Tucker. "Really exciting - came back from a big deficit."

Rolling Meadows (10-5, 4-2) slips into a second-place tie in the East with Hersey, with four league games remaining.
