Baseball: St. Charles East dumps Geneva

St. Charles East scored 4 runs in the fourth inning and went on to a 5-1 Upstate Eight River baseball win over Geneva on Wednesday.

Niko Klebosits picked up the complete-game win on the mound for the Saints (6-4, 2-1), allowing just 4 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Austin Gift and Kyle Tiltges (RBI) each had 2 hits for SCE while Klebosits had a double and an RBI and Jim Dale drove in a run.

Justin Hasegama had 2 hits for Geneva (8-4, 4-1) and Matt Simpson added a double. Bryan Callaly took the loss on the hill for the Vikings.

St. Charles North 12, Streamwood 4: Brendan Joyce had 3 doubles and 2 RBI and Tyler Mettetal added 2 hits with a double and 4 RBI to lead the North Stars (7-2, 4-0) in the UEC River. Kyle Novotny also drove in 2 runs for SCN and Westin Muir picked up the win on the mound. Keagan Cordone had a double for Streamwood (1-8, 0-4). Jr Alvarez was the losing pitcher.

Batavia 9, Larkin 1: Kykle Niemiec went 4-for-4 with a triple, 2 doubles and 2 RBI and Jimmy Roach was 3-for-3 as Batavia (5-2, 2-2) rolled to this UEC River win. Luke Beckmann added 2 hits with a triple and 3 RBI for the Bulldogs, Tyler Kledzik had 2 hits and 3 RBI and Glenn Albanese 2 hits with a triple and an RBI. Alex Kielion went the distance on the mound, scattering 7 hits with 6 strikeouts and no walks. Zach Edgar had 2 hits for Larkin (2-7, 0-5) and David Weaver took the loss on the mound.

Elgin 9, West Chicago 7: RJ Bartlett had 3 hits and 3 RBI and Rigoberto Sanchez added 2 hits and 2 RBI for Elgin (4-7), which scored 4 runs in the top of the seventh inning to win this scheduled nonconference game. Bartlett also picked up the win on the mound, going 2 innings in relief.

Marmion 13, Fenwick 0: Sophomore Brandon McPherson allowed just 1 hit with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks to run his record to 3-0 on the season as Marmion won this Chicago Catholic League game in five innings. Trevor Taus had a double and an RBI for the Cadets (6-4, 2-1) while McPherson drove in 2 runs and Matt Henkel had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Burlington Central 4, North Boone 1: Dakota Sciabaras had 2 hits with a double and an RBI and Kyle Creadon scattered 7 hits with 10 strikeouts and 1 walk in a complete game stint as the Rockets (6-5, 4-0) won this Big Northern East game. Ryan Knowlton added 2 hits for BC.

ACC 6, Illiana Christian 5: Jimmy Laurenti, Johnny Belskis, Michael Bieterman, Ryan Poplawski and Sean Sinisko drove in runs for the Chargers (10-4) in this Metro Suburban crossover win. John Cosgrave earned the win in relief for Aurora Central.

Harvard 14, Harvest Christian 1: Brock Wilken had a double for Harvest Christian (6-6) in this nonconference loss.

Dundee-Crown 10, Grayslake North 9: Patrick Harvey and Danny Denz each drove in 2 runs and Ryan Denz had 2 hits with a double as the Chargers scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to win this FVC game. Jim Welzien added a double for D-C (7-4, 2-0) and Matt Weichmann picked up the win in relief.

Prairie Ridge 6, Cary-Grove 1: Max Neilson had a double and Nick Kirk 2 hits for Cary-Grove (8-5, 3-1) in this FVC loss, Matt McCumber took the loss on the mound.

Aurora Christian 5, West Aurora 5: Tanner Dissell (3 hits), Drew Wagner (2 hits), Jacob Daley (2 hits, 3 RBI), Ethan Stoneberg (2B) and Dustin Barrett (2B) led the Aurora Christian (6-2-1) offense in this nonconference tie. Ryan Becker (2 hits, RBI), Jake Arsenault (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Matt Desjardine (2B) led West Aurora (2-5-1).

CL South 7, Johnsburg 0: In nonconference action, Griffin Bright (2 hits, RBI), Cam Geisser (2 hits, 2B) and Michael Swialty (2 hits) led the undefeated Gators (9-0). Kevin Amren earned the win for Crystal Lake South with relief help from Jason DeCicco.

Lisle 13, Westminster Christian 5: Ian Merlak had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI, Chris King a solo home run and Matthew Schulenburg a double and an RBI for Westminster (3-11) in its nonconference loss.

Bartlett 9, Maine West 3: Brad Nowak (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI), Scott Ruedel (3 hits, 2B, RBI) and Mike Prang (3 hits, 2B) led Bartlett (3-7) to this nonconference win. Johnny Johnson added 2 hits and an RBI for the Hawks. Brandon Kendall went the distance for the win, allowing 5 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Huntley 11, Woodstock North 5: Jeff Heinrich was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI and Joe Rizzo had 2 hits and 4 RBI as Huntley (7-4, 3-1) prevailed in the FVC. Tyler Koss added 2 hits for the Red Raiders, as did Trevor Ranallo, who also had an RBI. Ryan McGran contributed a double to the win and Patrick Sexton got the pitching win in relief.

St. Edward 8, Guerin 7: In a Metro Suburban crossover, the Green Wave pushed across a run in the bottom of the ninth to earn the win. Dylan Murray had 3 RBI for St. Edward (3-8) and Mike Lopez was the winning pitcher.

Luther North 7, Elgin Academy 6: Andrew Wilson had 2 hits with a double for Elgin Academy (8-3) in this nonconference loss.
