Metra train kills pedestrian in Hanover Park

Metra officials and the Cook County medical examiner are investigating after an inbound train fatally struck a male pedestrian near the Hanover Park station Tuesday morning.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been disclosed, was hit about 10 a.m. by inbound train 2230, Metra said.

The train that struck the person remained halted in Hanover Park into the afternoon, but other trains passed through. Passengers on the stopped train were placed on an outbound train that headed back toward Chicago.
