Carpentersville apartment fire causes $15,000 in damage

An apartment fire on the 0-100 block of Oakcrest Drive in Carpentersville caused $15,000 in damage Tuesday afternoon, the Carpentersville Fire Department said in a news release Tuesday.

Firefighters responded at 2:30 p.m. and discovered a blaze on the building's second floor. Flames also spread to the building's exterior.

The damage was contained to just one unit in the building, and the Red Cross is assisting the family affected, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
