Lake Zurich Middle School North set to stage 'Fiddler on the Roof'

Lake Zurich Middle School North students held a dress rehearsal Monday for their production of a musical theater classic.

In "Fiddler on the Roof," religious devotion and the comforts of cultural tradition are put to the test by changing times and governmental persecution in this always timely show.

The musical features time-honored favorites including "If I Were a Rich Man," "Sunrise, Sunset," and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker."

"It's a personal favorite of mine," Director Karen Jaffe said. "It's one of the toughest pieces of musical theater, and so to be able to challenge my kids and know that they're going to rise to the occasion is such an incredible experience." Show dates are Thursday, April 14, through Saturday, April 16, at the school at 95 Hubbard Lane, Hawthorn Woods. Nightly shows start at 7 p.m. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets available at the door for $8.
