Two firefighters hurt battling Lake in the Hills blaze

Two firefighters were injured Monday afternoon fighting a blaze in a townhouse in Lake in the Hills, fire officials said. Firefighters were called at 1:35 p.m. to the two-story building on the 0-100 block of West Acorn and arrived to find smoke showing from the roof and a small fire in the rear of the house, Algonquin-Lake in the Hills fire officials said in a news release.

The owners were home at the time but escaped uninjured. Two firefighters were taken to a nearby hospital with nonlife- threatening injuries. Six families were displaced by the fire.

No damage estimate was available. Fire officials continue to investigate. Assisting departments were Crystal Lake, Fox River Grove, West Dundee, Rutland Dundee, Hoffman Estates, Elgin, Huntley, Pingree Grove, Marengo and Cary.
