Fun Run 5K supports family room at Edward Hospital

Participants in a new 5K held Sunday in Lisle ran like the Hamburglar was chasing them as they raised money for the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Edward Hospital.

The new Family Room Fun Run stepped off at 8:45 a.m. with some runners donning Ronald McDonald's red nose and red-striped socks as they raced around the sprawling Lisle Community Park.

The run helps families of hospitalized children by benefiting the operations of the Family Room, a space near the pediatric intensive care unit where families can relax, have a meal, take a shower, brush their teeth, nap for a bit or even sleep overnight.

The Family Room at Edward Hospital in Naperville is one of three Ronald McDonald House Charities operates in the Chicago area. Others are in Chicago at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital and at Comer Children's Hospital at the University of Chicago Medicine.
