Glenbard to present Power of Joy in the Home

Joy at work and joy at home are inextricably linked. It can be difficult to have one without the other. If we are miserable at work, our home lives will be affected. Children are sensitive to their parents' moods. If parents are optimistic and hopeful about their future at work, this can translate into being vibrant, encouraging parents at home.

The Glenbard Parent Series Navigating Healthy Families will present the Power of Joy in the Home at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Glenbard South High School, 23W200 Butterfield Road in Glen Ellyn.

Come hear "Joy, Inc." author Richard Sheridan discuss what it takes to create a joyful culture at work and bring this same joy to your home life. The same skills we are looking for at work - creativity, imagination, energy, enthusiasm and optimism - can be cultivated in our children. The roots of both emanate from the same basic human need for feeling safe and living without artificially manufactured fear.

This event is for adults in any field who want tangible examples of a healthier, happier atmosphere at work and home. Students are welcome, too. Audience members will come away with an inspirational blueprint for how to create a positive culture.

Sheridan is the CEO, Founder and Chief Storyteller at Menlo Innovations, which in 2014, hosted 3,235 people who came from around the world to be inspired and learn.
