School supplies available for those in need in Palatine Twp.

Community members living in Palatine Township are encouraged to nominate their own child, or the child of a family in-need to benefit from the Apple Tree School Supply Campaign.

The program is now in its 28th year, and assists Palatine Township children whose families are experiencing financial hardship. Those who qualify for the program receive new backpacks and most school supplies on required supply lists for kindergarten through incoming freshmen (ninth grade). Applications are now available on the Palatine Township website at www.PalatineTownship.com under the Assistance Programs tab.

"It is very important for Palatine Township to continue to help ensure our students are well-prepared and have the needed supplies at the start of the 2016-2017 school year," said Sharon Langlotz-Johnson, Palatine Township supervisor.

Completion of the online application is preferred, but it can also be downloaded, printed and completed. As with the online version, paper applications require proof of residency, a valid ID and the children(s) birth certificate or an Illinois All Care Kids statement. All applications must be turned in at the Palatine Township Center building, 721 S. Quentin Road in Palatine, no later than June 1, 2016.

For assistance with the application contact Lori Lindberg, Outreach coordinator at (847) 358-6161 or email LLindberg@PalatineTownship.com.

Completion of the form does not guarantee participation in the program.
