No surviellance of young white males?
Like many Americans, I am disgusted and appalled by presidential candidates suggesting that all Muslim communities should be surveilled and their mosques spied upon. I am, however, puzzled by the inconsistency of these candidates and their followers.
Why have we heard no similar suggestions regarding young white males, such as those who committed the massacres at Sandy Hook and Mother Emmanuel Church? And why is no one asking to keep an eye on older white males like those who shot up Planned Parenthood and took over the nature preserve in Oregon?
It seems to me that we have just a little hypocrisy here. Terrorism is terrorism, whether the perpetrator is foreign or native-born and whether they practice Islam, Christianity, any other religious faith or none.
