Tree of Life UU Choir to be featured in regional concert Sunday

At 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10, the adult choir of the Tree of Life Congregation in McHenry will participate in the annual Western Crescent Choir Festival of Unitarian Universalist congregations from the western Chicago suburbs and exurbs.

The concert will be held at the Rockford Unitarian Universalist Church, 4848 Turner St. in Rockford.

The choir, under the direction of Thomas Steffens, is currently in rehearsals and preparation for its upcoming tour of Romania and the oldest Unitarian churches in the world in the region of Transylvania.

This is the third year the choir has participated in this festival that is open to the public.

The concert will feature singers the Unitarian Universalist Church of Rockford, Elgin Unitarian Universalist Church, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of DeKalb and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Geneva. Each choir will perform three songs.

The concert will end with a 75-voice mass choir performing several classic choral works.

After the 90-minute program, there will be a light supper for fellowship and celebration.

The event is open to the public. A freewill offering will be collected.
