Baseball: Wheaton North, Neuqua Valley, Naperville Central win

Wheaton North 11, WW South 4:

The Falcons (4-1, 1-0) claimed the opener of the DuPage Valley Conference series behind Ryan Muehlfelt's homer and Casey Becker's 4 RBI. Winning pitcher Zach Colangelo struck out eight over 6 innings. Paul Monaco had 2 hits for WW South (2-2, 0-1).

Neuqua Valley 11, Metea Valley 1:

The Wildcats (3-1, 1-0) scored 3 runs in each of the three final innings while pulling away to a DuPage Valley Conference victory over Metea Valley (3-2, 0-1). Eric Nelson drove in 5 runs and Kevin Ringlein and Jake Dupre had 2 RBI apiece. James Gargano went 3-for-4. Connor Rektorski was the winning pitcher. Jack Feeley went 2-for-3 for the Mustangs.

Naperville Central 7, Glenbard North 4:

Ryan Eiermann won on the mound and also went 2-for-3 with a homer and 2 RBI for the Redhawks (7-2, 1-0) in the DuPage Valley. Nick Barrett had 2 hits for Glenbard North (2-6, 0-1).

Hinsdale Central 2, St. Joseph 0:

Andrew Jurack fired a no-hitter with 9 strikeouts and 5 walks for the Red Devils (5-1). Maclain Neal and Quentin Wallace had Hinsdale Central's only hits.

Naperville North 5, South Elgin 1:

Winning pitcher Matt Schwartz went 2-for-4 and allowed 4 hits over 6 innings. Eric Rodriguez drove in 2 runs for the Huskies (2-3).

Montini 9, Lisle 2:

Justin Blake went 3-for-4 and winning pitcher Danny Mallory struck out eight in 5 innings as the Broncos (8-1) won in nonconference action. Christian Grego had 2 hits for Lisle (3-6).

Wheaton Academy 11, St. Edward 0:

A 5-run bottom of the fourth powered the Warriors (4-3, 1-0) to the Metro Suburban win. Harrison Taylor tripled and drove in 4 runs. Ryan Anderson struck out six and allowed 3 hits.

Downers North 5, York 4:

Brendan Shanahan, who had 2 hits, and James Krick each drove in 2 runs for the Trojans (2-5, 1-0) in the West Suburban Silver. Ryan Cantlin was the complete-game winning pitcher. Matt Riecker went 4-for-4 for York (2-4, 0-1).

Downers South 9, Leyden 0:

Zack Jones pitched 5 scoreless innings to earn the West suburban Gold victory. Danny Oriente went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and 2 RBI.

Hinsdale South 4, Schaumburg 0:

The Hornets' Tim Dziergas pitched a 3-hitter with 8 strikeouts. Hinsdale South (6-2) managed only three baserunners until scoring all its runs in the sixth inning.

Timothy Christian 6, Walther Christian 2:

The Trojans (4-3, 1-0) won in the Metro Suburban East behind Carter Johnson, who struck out 14 and allowed no earned runs. Joey Davidson went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Oak Park 7, Willowbrook 5:

The Warriors (2-4) led 5-4 until Oak Park pulled ahead with 3 runs in the top of the sixth. T.J. Geritano doubled, tripled and drove in 2 runs.
