U-46 online registration for 2016-17 now open

Online registration now is available for new or current Elgin area students entering kindergarten through 12th grades for the 2016-17 academic year.

Registration events also are scheduled at each Elgin Area School District U-46 school later this spring.

Parents can register their children in one application through the Infinite Campus portal. The district mailed instructions to parents last month.

Registration by May 25 will save $20 per student and guarantees transportation.

Full-day kindergarten will be offered for the first time districtwide this fall.

Several U-46 elementary schools will host kindergarten orientation on the same evening as registration events. More schools will host kindergarten orientation on other nights this month and throughout May.

"We're excited to welcome new families, whether they are joining us for full-day kindergarten, are new to the district or just need registration assistance at these events," U-46 CEO Tony Sanders said. "Registering now helps the district, our schools and families be better prepared for the new school year."

New U-46 students must preregister at their new school before completing online registration.
