Lake County Community Foundation announces new board roles

The Lake County Community Foundation has announced the addition of the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Davis to the board of directors, as well as new officer roles for several existing members.

The Rev. Dr. Davis, senior pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Libertyville, joins the foundation board with a lengthy record of civic and board service, community engagement and leadership across the entire county, both with and among faith-based groups, as well as nondenominational social service agencies and public-private partnerships.

His arrival coincides with the elevation of third-term board member and Green Oaks resident Miah H. Armour from the role of vice-chair to board chair, and of Dominica Tallarico, president of Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, to vice-chair.

Martha Hinchman, senior vice president of The Northern Trust Company, who joined the board in early 2015, assumes the role of secretary. Larry Connolly, general counsel, Aon Hewitt, retired, will continue as treasurer for another term. "I am pleased to welcome Pastor Bob to this committed group of Lake County community and business leaders," Armour said. "In just over a decade, together with donors and the support of The Chicago Community Trust, the foundation has invested over $3,000,000 of competitive grants across the Lake County nonprofit landscape.

"It's powerful to see what we can achieve when we pool our philanthropic dollars for maximum impact. The upcoming grant cycle takes on even more importance as nonprofit groups throughout Lake County struggle to serve more people in need with less resources due to the state budget shortfall."

The foundation's 2016 competitive grant cycle will open in May. Technical assistance sessions are scheduled for May 17 and 18 and Letters of Inquiry are due May 27. Proposals will be evaluated starting in late June, with notification of awards scheduled for July 29.

Grant-making guidelines, funding priorities and details on the application and evaluation process can be found at www.lakecountycf.org/apply/home. For more information, contact Wendy Richter at (847) 377-0520 or wendy@lakecountycf.org.

Since 2003, The Lake County Community Foundation, a regional affiliate of The Chicago Community Trust, has partnered with donors to leverage and guide their philanthropy to help transform the lives of their most vulnerable neighbors across Lake County.

The foundation has contributed more than $3 million in grant funding to over 150 nonprofit organizations to protect the fragile health and human services safety net. These organizations ensure that resources are available to provide services addressing basic human needs, community development, education and health throughout Lake County.
