CLC's Salute to Gospel Music to feature Brian Courtney Wilson, Paul Porter

Tickets are on sale at the College of Lake County Lakeshore Campus for CLC's 32nd Annual Salute to Gospel Music program on May 21, featuring two award-winning singers: Brian Courtney Wilson and Paul Porter. The event begins at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 in Trapp Auditorium, Waukegan High School, 2325 Brookside Ave.

A buy-one, get-one-free ticket offer is available at the CLC Lakeshore Campus from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, April 11-15, in the Main Lobby South Building, 33 N. Genesee St., Waukegan.

Brian Courtney Wilson is a Dove Award winner for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year and Grammy Award Nominee for Best Gospel Performance/Song for "Worth Fighting For," No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel Songs and Mediabase Gospel chart during 2015. He appeared on the 47th Annual Dove Awards, BET's Bobby Jones Gospel, BET Celebration of Gospel, the BMI Trailblazers Awards and the 31st Annual Stellar Awards, Bishop TD Jakes Megafest and the Help 2.0 tour. In addition, he is a Stellar Award winner with United Tenors.

Paul Porter is a founding member, lead vocalist and songwriter of The Christianaires. He is a Grammy, Dove and Stellar award winner and Gospel Music Hall of Fame member.

In addition to the two guest artists, the College of Lake County Gospel Choir, directed by Charles Thomas Hayes, will perform and provide backup for Wilson. Effie Rolfe, a Chicago-based media personality, speaker and author, will serve as master of ceremonies, along with JoHaan Cotton Wilson of the CLC Lakeshore Campus. Other performers include the North Shore Baptist Minister's Alliance Community Choir and Dr. Sylvia Sims and RHEMA Dance Ministry, Inc. The 2016 Harambee Award of Excellence will be presented to the Rev. Terry Atwater, North Shore Church of Christ, Waukegan.

Tickets are $19 for general admission; $17 for CLC students/staff/alumni, children under 12 and seniors 65 and older; $16 for groups of 20-29; and $15 for groups of 30 or more. Starting April 18, tickets can be ordered through the James Lumber Center Box Office at (847) 543-2300 or visit www.clcillinois.edu/tickets. For online sales, add $2 per ticket convenience fee plus $3 per order. The Box Office is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets are also available at the Lakeshore Campus, 33 N.
